Happy Birthday Chalkboard Style

Hi Everyone!

Welcome back to an Atlantic Hearts Sketch Challenge Monday!!  This week's sketch is fabulous as per normal!  Here it is:

Swing by the blog on Wednesday to check out the rest of the Design Team creations.  And, of course, we would love to see you play along!!

Here is my creation:

I finally had a chance to try Stampin' Up!'s new Chalkboard paper and inks - to be honest, I was a little disappointed.  As you can see, it's really hard to pick out the sentiment on the black chalkboard paper.  It's probably because I did something incorrectly and need to practice a few more times to see how it will turn out.  I'll try it again soon to see.

I also had fun with the new Itty Bitty Accents Apoxy Stickers.  I used the star punch from the Itty Bitty Punch Pack to punch out Calypso Coral stars to attach to the stickers and give them a fun colour background so they would stand out.  Finally, I used the Happy Birthday stamp from the Big Day Stamp Set to create a fun background on the Coastal Cabana card stock.

Card Recipe (all products used are Stampin' Up! products unless otherwise indicated):

Card Stock: Calypso Coral, Coastal Cabana, Chalkboard Paper
Stamp Sets: Big Day
Inks: Coastal Cabana, Aquamarine Colorbox Chalk Ink
Tools/Techniques: Itty Bitty Accents Apoxy Stickers, Best Year Ever Accessory Pack - 1/4" Polyester Ribbon - Calypso Coral

Thanks so much for dropping by, I'm so glad you did!

  2. I have those inks too - I was a little disappointed in the brightness on the black as well - I guess we are both doing something wrong! LOL :) ANYWAYS, I love your take on the sketch - clean & simple - just my style! GREAT job!
