Happy Father's Day Dad!

Hi Everyone!

Tonight I am going out on a limb and hoping that my Dad doesn't look at this blog before Father's Day as tonight I am showcasing his card. :)

As always, I used a few challenges to gain inspiration:

1) Create with Connie and Mary

I really thought this week's sketch was really fun.  I wanted to bring a little something different to the sketch so I decided to use the "happy" as one of the layers.  I'm pretty sure the ladies won't mind.

2) The Friday Mashup

This week I chose to mash it up!

This week's Mashup Challenge is:
  • Create a project with the colors "Cajun Craze, Island Indigo and Garden Green"
  • Create a project with a "Father's Day Theme"
  • or Mash it Up! and Create a project with "The challenge colors and a Father's Day theme".

This a new challenge for me and this week's theme is Father's Day.

I love the look of the stacked "happy"

And here is my creation:

First Card in my New Craft Room!

Happy Sunday Everyone!!

This weekend I got a chance to actually sit and craft in my new craft room/guest room.  So far I am liking the layout and it seems to be working well for me.  :)

There were a ton of challenges out there for inspiration but these are the ones that I was pulled to immediately:

1. CASE This Sketch

I really thought this week's sketch over at CASE This Sketch was awesome - it took me outside of my comfort zone but was definitely fun to play with.

2. Create with Connie and Mary

This week Create with Connie and Mary had a really fun colour challenge for us - Blackberry Bliss (my favourite Stampin' Up! Colour!!), Soft Sky and Smoky Slate or Silver.

3. Friday Mashup

It's been quite some time since I've had a chance to play with this challenge and it's a really fun one!

This week's Mashup! Challenge is:
  • Create a project with "Butterflies".
  • Create a project using "Lace on it".
  • or Mash it Up! and create a project using "Butterflies and Lace".

I've chosen to create a project with "Butterflies".  If I have a chance later in the week, I'll create one with both lace and butterflies as I am in love with Stampin' Up!'s new lace ribbon in the new In Colours!

Here is my creation:

It's hard to tell but the sentiment is heat embossed in silver.

Card Recipe (all products used are Stampin' Up! products unless otherwise indicated):

Card Stock: Soft Sky, Blackberry Bliss, Whisper White
Stamp Sets: Lovely Amazing You
Inks: Soft Sky, Versamark
Tools/Techniques: Silver Embossing Powder, Heat Tool, Butterflies Thinlets, Big Shot, Stripes Decorative Mask, Sponging

A Treat Bag Card

Hi Everyone!

So I don't know about you but ever since I saw the Treat Bag Framelits in the Stampin' Up! Occasions catalogue, I have been dying to use them!  This past weekend we had a surprise party for a friend's 50th birthday so I thought it was time to break out the treat bag and have a little fun.

Here is what I created:

In the treat bag I put a little note card in Blushing Bride and Whisper White card stock with a "Happy Birthday" sentiment but I forgot to actually take a snap of that...oops!  In order to let the "celebrate" portion of the sentiment pop more, I embossed it using Blushing Bride embossing powder and fussy cut the banner out.  I think it adds a little more depth to the creation.

As per normal, I was inspired by the following challenges:

1. Create with Connie & Mary

I was just in love with this week's colour challenge - Rose Red (this is fast becoming one of my favourite colours!), Blushing Bride and Blackberry Bliss (another of my favourites!).  How could I not play along?!?!

CCMC344

2. Seize The Birthday

I love building up my stash of Birthday cards and playing along and being inspired by the ladies over at Seize the Birthday certainly helps in this area.  This week I chose to play along with the "Anything Goes" portion of the challenge.

Card Recipe:

Card Stock: Crisp Cantaloupe, Blackberry Bliss, Whisper White, Painted Blooms DSP
Stamp Sets: Balloon Bash, Age Awareness
Inks: Crisp Cantaloupe, Rose Red, Versamark
Tools/Techniques: Big Shot, On Film Framelits, Gold Sequin Trim, 3/8" Stitched Satin Ribbon - Blackberry Bliss, Blushing Bride Embossing Powder, Mini Metallic Clothespins, Treat Bag Framelits

Happy, Happy, Happy, Happy Birthday to You!

Hi Everyone,

This is my second post for tonight...wow!

I got the Amazing Birthday stamp set a few weeks ago and it is quickly becoming one of my favourites.  Tonight was the first night that I inked it up but I'm in love with it.  It is so multi dimensional!

I was inspired by this week's sketch over at Create with Connie and Mary and knew I had to play along.  I love playing along with those ladies - they are a super talented bunch!

CCMC339

Here is my card:

Besides the Amazing Birthday stamp set, I wanted to showcase the new Painted Blooms DSP from Stampin' Up!'s latest Occasions Catalogue.  The colours in this new DSP are just gorgeous - don't you think?

Thoughts of Feathers

Hi Everyone!

Happy Monday!  I hope things are great in your neck of the woods, wherever that may be.

First off, I'd like to say thank you to the ladies over at CAS - Colours & Sketches for choosing my Neon Christmas Card as one of the top 3 last week.  You can check out my card HERE!

Winners Blog Button

Sorry for the quietness lately, it has been a very busy couple of weeks for me.  Last weekend I had a friend in town (my University roommate from back in the day!) to celebrate my birthday with me - what a weekend!  So very, very busy.  I did get a chance to get one quick card in over the last little while - one card, that's it!

This week we have a fabulous new sketch for you over at Atlantic Hearts Sketch Challenge.  The DT will have their inspiration creations up on the blog on Wednesday, this gives you some time to come join us and play along before we show you how we've all interpreted the sketch.  Please drop by and check out what the DT has come up with and make sure to play along!!!

I also decided to play along with the colour challenge over at Create with Connie & Mary.  I decided to use the colours as an accent this week and pair them with a beautiful neutral - Soft Suede.  And I was dying to get my hands on the new stamp set - Four Feathers - and the accompanying framelits.  Luckily, my wonderful crafty friend over at Hayley's Paper Garden just purchased them and I got to play!

CCMC326

For the silver portion of the colour challenge, I decided to use the redesigned Silver Glimmer Paper which is so super sparkly...

Time Out Challenges also had a fun "Inspired by Words" challenge on their blog this week - "Birds of a Feather Flock Together".  I think my card fits right in with this!

Grab Our Badge!

And finally, this week is an "Anything Goes" challenge over at Stampin' Royalty so I decided to play along with these gals as well.

Wear Our Badge

Joy!

Hi Everyone!

This is my second post for this evening - two cards in one day is a big deal for me these days!

Amy has such a fun sketch over at Freshly Made Sketches this week that I just had to play along!

And, ofcourse, Connie & Mary had a GREAT colour combination over at Create with Connie & Mary - Cherry Cobbler, Garden Green, & Baked Brown Sugar.  This combo just screamed Christmas to me and I had been dying to use my new Wondrous Wreath stamp set and accompanying framelits.

Overwhelming Awesomeness!

Hi Everyone!

I am back from a month long vacation on the East Coast and it is difficult to be back into the swing of things.  Did I blink and suddenly it's September??  I honestly don't know what happened!  But nevertheless, September it is.  I must admit, I am enjoying the cooler temperatures and this is my favorite time of year.

This morning we have another great sketch for you over at Atlantic Hearts Sketch Challenge.  You should really pop by and play along, we would love to have you!  Tomorrow you will see all of the wonderful creations by the Design Team if you are looking for further inspiration to help excite you to play along.

Here is this week's sketch:

I decided I would also play along this week with the awesome colour challenge over at Create with Connie and Mary.  This week is Pear Pizzazz, Lost Lagoon and Smoky Slate.  This is not a colour combination that I would normally use but this seems to be all the rage these days.  It is all over the holiday publications I have been seeing lately (shhh...let's not talk holidays just yet although I have received some great new stamp sets to play with!!!).

CCMC320

Here is my creation:

As an aside, I thought I would share a couple of pics with you from my trip to Newfoundland.  It was gorgeous weather and the icebergs will still around - it was spectacular!

I even got to eat iceberg ice - it was so fabulous!  An experience I had never had before!

Card Recipe:

Card Stock: Smoky Slate, Pear Pizzazz, Lost Lagoon, Whisper White
Stamp Sets: Flower Patch
Inks: Pear Pizzazz, Lost Lagoon
Tools/Techniques: Flower Patch Framelits, Big Shot, Basic Jewels - Pearls

Star Studded Birthday!

Hi Everyone!

Just dropping in with a quick post of one of the cards that I did during our mega crafting session on Friday night.  I hope you enjoy!

For this card, I decided to use the sketch over at Create with Connie and Mary.

CCMC293

I decided to take it in a different direction than above and make it a bit more masculine looking which was right up the alley of The Friday Mashup this week.

Here's your Mashup Challenge:
  1. Create a "Masculine" project.
  2. Create a project with some "Stitching/sewing on it".
  3. or Create a "Masculine project with Stitching on it".
I decided that I would stay away from the stitching/sewing part this week...

In terms of colours, these came right out of The Card Concept challenge this week where I decided to stay with my normal theme of Clean and Layered - it seems to be a trend for me. :)

These colours just screamed masculine to me so that is what I went with.

Here is my card:

I wish the Stampin' Up! catalogue had star punches or framelits to go with their Simply Stars stamp set. In this case, I stamped the stars on the back of the Gold Foil and fussy cut the stars out.

Card Recipe (All Stampin' Up! products):

Card Stock: Whisper White, Lucky Limeaide, Early Espresso, Gold Foil
Inks: Early Espresso
Stamp Sets: Wacky Wishes, Simply Stars
Tools/Techniques: The Big Shot, Banner Framelits, Chevron Embossing Folder, Perfect Polka Dots Embossing Folder, Arrows Embossing Folder

Thanks for dropping by!
