Big Balloon Birthday

Hi Everyone!

Another Monday, another fabulous sketch from Atlantic Hearts Sketch Challenge.  You just have to drop by the blog on Wednesday to check out the rest of the Design Team creations.  While you're there, make sure to take some time to play along, we'd love to have you!!

Here is this week's sketch:

And here is my creation:

I've been dying to try this stamp set and the accompanying framelits for some time so when my friend finally had them delivered, I knew I had to create something.  I'm pretty happy with the results.  I love the new Birthday Bash DSP as well and it adds a fun element to the card.  I just wish you could see the gold foil embellished balloons better in the picture - they are my favourite part!

Happy Birthday Balloons

Hi Everyone,

I'm a little late posting this but yesterday was Monday so that means another fabulous sketch over at Atlantic Hearts Sketch Challenge!!  I do hope you will take the time to swing by the blog, check out the other Design Team creations and play along.  We love seeing our favs but also new players!!

Also, tune in next week for something very special as it will be sketch #100 for AHSC - you won't want to miss out!!

Here is this week's fantastic sketch:

And here is my card for this week:

I love the colours that are used in the DSP from Stampin' Up!'s Sale-a-bration catalogue - they are just so fun and cheery!  I also fussy cut the balloons and sentiments - I don't often like to fussy cut but it was worth it for this look.  I also used a strip from the Birthday Bash Specialty DSP in the Occasions Catalogue - I love these sheets as they have flecks of gold foil in them although it is hard to see in the pictures.  It just adds such a lovely effect to the card.

As always, I'm playing along with a few challenges to get the mojo going.

1. Just Us Girls

This week is a trend week  over at Just Us Girls and they are looking for "Splatters".  I chose to use this splattered DSP as the background for my card.

2. Addicted to Stamps and More

It's a photo inspiration week over at Addicted to Stamps and More.  The photo reminded me of a birthday party setup and I used some of the colours from the photo as well in my card.

3. Seize the Birthday

I chose not to use the toppings option this week at Seize the Birthday but rather to go with the Anything Goes option.  I love that they have the Anything Goes option each week and it gives a great opportunity to build up your Birthday stash any way you like.

Card Recipe (all products used are Stampin' Up! products unless otherwise indicated):

Card Stock: Crushed Curry, Whisper White, Best Year Ever DSP, Birthday Bash Specialty DSP
Stamp Set: Balloon Bash
Inks: Bermuda Bay, Calypso Coral, Crushed Curry
Tools/Techniques: Best Year Ever Accessory Pack - 1/4" Polyester Ribbon - Crushed Curry

Thanks so much for stopping by, I'm so glad you did!

Springtime Blossoms

Hi Everyone,

I have a couple of thank you's to send out today before I get started on my post.

First, did you notice the new look of my blog?  My fabulous friend Hayley of Hayley's Paper Garden put together a great new blog header for me to freshen up the look of the blog.  I love it!  If you are not familiar with the provinces of Canada, the yellow "splotches" are my home province of Newfoundland and Labrador and the purple heart is the town where I am from - how cute is that?!  I am seriously, way too in love with the new look.  Thank you Hayley!

Also, I wanted to thank the ladies over at Colour Me...! this week for choosing my Lovely Lumberjack card as the Top Pick for their challenge last week.  I am honoured!  You can see me card HERE.

I don't know about any of you but I am not so patiently waiting for Spring...so I decided it was time to use the new Lotus Blossom stamp set from the Stampin' Up! Sale-a-bration catalogue.  I had been dying to get my hands and this one and I was not disappointed.  It was a really fun set to use and the results are just lovely.  Here is my card:

As always, I took my inspiration from a couple of challenges:

1. Colour Me...!

This week's challenge was to use Hello Honey, Cajun Craze and Mossy Meadow.  I, unfortunately, went by memory on the colours and ended up using Crushed Curry instead of Hello Honey - close enough.

I loved the sketch over at Mojo Monday this week - it was super fun to play along with.

Card Recipe (all products used are Stampin' Up! products unless otherwise indicated):

Card Stock: Mossy Meadow, Whisper White, Birthday Bash Specialty DSP
Stamp Sets: Lotus Blossom, Teeny Tiny Wishes, Best Day Ever
Inks: Mossy Meadow, Crushed Curry, Cajun Craze
Tools/Techniques: Circle Framelits, Big Shot, 3/8" Stitched Satin Ribbon - Mossy Meadow

Thanks for dropping by, I'm so glad you took the time to do so.
