Out of my Comfort Zone with Black and Yellow...

Hi Everyone!  Happy Tuesday!

Today I decided I would totally step outside of my comfort zone and try the challenge over at Dynamic Duos.

I am seriously NOT a yellow person at all...and this combination made me think of nothing but bumble bees.  All I wanted to do was use my Honeycomb Embossing Folder and totally run with it.  But that would have been within my comfort zone to do just that!  So, I decided to move outside and put together a black and yellow card and to embrace the dessert option of a shaped/fun fold as well.  I decided to try my hand at one of those File Folder Cards that I have seen everyone on Pinterest doing using the fantastic Envelope Punch Board.  If you haven't tried one of these before, I suggest checking out Angie's Video Tutorial over at Chic 'N Scratch - she has a TON of video tutorials and does AMAZING work.  I used her tutorial to help me figure out the ins and outs of these types of cards - Thanks Angie!

For the flower, I used the Blossom Punch as the base and then punched 3 labels using the Modern Label Punch.  They fit just perfectly with the Blossom Punch to form a great outlined flower.  I also used the 7/8" Scallop Circle Punch to punch out the centre of the flower.

  1. And what an excellent job you did way outside there, away from your zone of comfort! Well done, Steph! I immediately thought of bees when I saw the challenge, too, so you've inspired me to not be so narrow-minded!! Hugs, Darnell
